wood saw

Finally. I was able to work on the saw yesterday. I basecoated the main design. I was pretty much "into" painting when I had to stop because of poor lighting. I am painting in my patio room. Nice during the day, the sun shines through and the room is bright. Evening the lighting is not very good for painting.

Today we had nice weather and I was in the mood to finish painting so I gathered up my supplies went out in the patio room and started painting. I finished! Well, almost finished. I have to let it sit overnight to dry and then I will varnish the whole thing and then put the wooden handles back on and then I will be finished.

The theme is Northern California, Humboldt University, Trees and California State Flower... Poppies and the names of thier daughter and her significant other. I hope they like it.

FB Business Page

I have started the outline drawings on the saw. I hope to get at least the base coating done before going to my moms.

I am very happy and excited!! (silly me)I started a business page on Facebook. Here is my link

http://www.facebook.com/pages/craftnique/67095135775?created

I have a regular FB page and I wondered ( to myself) how I could get my Craftnique shops and information on FB. You know..just my business "stuff. Along comes a message from a friend on Mycraft named Debbie suggesting that I open a Business page. Wow! Did she somehow read my mind?? She has a FB Business page and is really happy with it. Debbie walked me through the process and put up with my many questions and messages LOL.

About Debbie, her business name is GlitteringPhotos. Debbie hand glitters photos of nature. They are beautiful. She uses a light touch. What a great idea!
To see her work and to get more information go to her FB page

or you can see more of her work on her Etsy site.

making bracelets

My mom is feeling better and can walk with a walker but not far. At least she is getting better.

I am on my way to her house now.

For years I have been making jewelry, earrings, bracelets, necklaces.lanyards. I use all types of materials from beads to polymer clay to leather. My daughter is constantly telling me to put some in my artfire and etsy shops. I didnt because of the fact that there is so much out there. She said "so, someone might like what YOU made" Made me think! Maybe. So I think I will do that.I just listed the green bracelet on my artfire shop http://www.craftnique.artfire.com/

Tomorrow my husband will be going to my moms to help out (he is a great guy, says I need a break!) I am taking our daughter to the Dr for her 2 week checkup from surgery. So afterwards she wants to do a "make jewelry day". I am all for that. I will have to pack things up to take to her house because her 4 kids will be home from school early (minimum day). I have "jewels" for them to work on too.

Well, off to Solvang to help mom...........

My Crafting is put on hold for a few more days. Turns out my mom has a hairline fracture on her pelvic bone. I am going over there to fix meals, keep them company etc. My 93 year old stepfather is in a wheelchair but he is doing what he can. This morning he boiled some eggs and made toast for her. How sweet to still share that "love" for each other.
I am on my way to fix dinner and set them up for the next day.
I was checking my email today and this was sent to me by another crafting friend. Thought I would share. I found it funny and interesting at the same time ( remember I am tired!! LOL)
Hope you can click on the link.

Change of Plans

As you see I have not worked on the saw.
My daughter had surgery and my mom injured her hip (she is 86)
I have been occupied with them. We are taking my mom to the Dr today.

A change in plans on the Saw.
They decided they want a different scene, Redwoods. Luckily I only had the base coat on~! Bungalow Blue.

I have a few items that I want to put on my Etsy and Artfire but that will have to wait.

I hope everyone has a good day

I was asked to paint a two man wood cutting saw. It is big, heavy and very sharp. It is old .

I had to clean off the rust using vinegar and water and let it sit in the sun for a few days. I want a smooth surface so I didnt want to sand off the rust. I then put primer on it and again let it sit for a few days. I added one coat of paint yesterday and did the other side today. Tomorrow I will add the second coat and then paint the design. I thought I would post pictures as I go.

I am using acrylic paint, bungalow blue. They liked my rosebuds that I painted on my birdhouse and flower pot which I have on my etsy site. They want that as the background and then thier daughters name. I will post more pictures as I progress.
